Kathy
Quain, MME, MT-BC, is active as a music therapist, pianist,
drum circle facilitator and educator. Founder of Music for
Therapy and Music for Life Music Lessons, she enhances lives
through music therapy, education and beyond.

Kathy
Quain's mission to enhance lives through music inspired her
to create Music for Life Music Therapy
Services. Together with supportive music therapists, Music
for Therapy brings therapeutic music sessions to a wide range
of programs including PACE day programs and High Schools for teens on probation. She contracts
with the Solano County Department of Special Education and
the North Bay Regional Center specifically supporting language
development for infants with autism. A Board-Certified Music
Therapist, she attained her Master's in Music Education in
Music Therapy at the University of Kansas and completed her
internship at River Oaks Psychiatric Hospital in Louisiana.
Kathy has served the American Music Therapy Association as
a past regional president.
Pianist
An
accomplished pianist, Kathy performs at receptions, ceremonies
and events. Kathy has performed at the Napa Valley Opera House
and
with the Napa Valley Chorale. The Napa Valley Repertoire Theatre
enjoys her as a rehearsal pianist where her sight reading
and accompanying skills shine. She holds a Bachelor's in Piano
Performance from Northwestern University, studied at the Jazz
School in Berkeley and trained for three seasons at the Aspen
Music Festival.
Drum Circle Facilitator
Kathy Quain facilitates drum circles with joy and energy. She draws on her musical expertise only to create an inviting musical playground for all to enjoy, even first-time drummers ! Her drum circle training includes Rhythm for Life, Village Music Circle Hawaii Playshops and Remo's Health Rhythms training. She has worked through Arthur Hull's Village Music Circles and has collaborated with a variety of musicians. She brings drum circles to festivals and workshops in Boston, Minneapolis, Orlando, Seattle and back at home in San Francisco.

since 1990. Music for Life music instructors provide private and group lessons throughout the San Francisco Bay Area including Oakland, American Canyon and Napa Valley.
Staff In-service Educator
Kathy offers professional development workshops in health care and educational settings to facilitate therapeutic music strategies for persons with special needs.
Arts Learning Facilitator
As an Arts Learning Anchor School Facilitator, Kathy communicates with various professionals in the field of education, offers professional development workshops and facilitates collaboration. A Technology of Participation (ToP) Facilitator, she uses highly participatory techniques to foster creative thinking, consensus-based decision making and team building. Programs benefit from valuable ToP processes including Consensus Workshops, Focused Conversations and Action Planning Workshops.
